Risk of Fires Increase During Summer Months

Firefighter Trust SERVPRO of Glendora/San Dimas to restore your home from fire damage

Summer months can mean trips to the beach or increased time spent with friends and family. With the Fourth of July next month, many groups will join together and watch fireworks, a favorite pastime when celebrating Independence Day. While fireworks are beautiful in color, they can also be very dangerous, and can result in burns and other injuries. Sparklers can burn up to 2,000 degrees, and are responsible for starting approximately 18,000 fires each year.

To avoid firework related injuries, we suggest never lighting fireworks indoors, never pointing fireworks at another person, and also keeping a bucket of water close by in order to extinguish them in case something goes awry.

Camping is also a favorite pastime during the summer months. While roasting marshmallows is a family treat, one must be responsible and extinguish their campfire properly after usage. Keep in mind that if the remains of your fire are too warm to touch, they are not okay to leave.

Since SERVPRO of Glendora/San Dimas is an Emergency Response Services Provider we are alway open and ready to support our community when needed.  Unfortunately fires in this season are too common and we see the damage they can cause first hand.

Always check if you are inside a Fire Hazard Severity Zone before building a campfire or lighting fireworks. Have fun and be safe!
